Bespoke
What can we make for you?
For the moments when off the rack will not do. A piece designed with you and made, start to finish, by a single master goldsmith.

How a commission unfolds
- 01
A conversation
Tell us what you have in mind, whether a variation on a piece you have seen, a different stone or setting, or something entirely new. Call Bob, or write with a time to talk. Include as much detail as you can; photographs and drawings are welcome.
- 02
The stones
We source stones to your brief from cutters and dealers around the world, and send photographs so you can compare candidates before choosing.
- 03
The design
Sketches, and sometimes a first wax, go back and forth until the design is right. Your own drawing can be the starting point.
- 04
Agreement
Pricing depends on the stones, the metal, one tone or two, whether the piece is carved or fabricated, and the time to design and make it. Once everything is agreed, a down payment is made and material costs are paid in advance before work begins.
- 05
The making
Carol carves or fabricates the piece, casts or forges it, sets the stones and finishes it by hand. Each step is photographed for your approval.
- 06
Delivery
Specialty pieces may take six to twelve weeks or longer to design and fabricate completely by hand. Many pieces can be delivered in two to three weeks, and some ship within a day. Rush orders can occasionally be accommodated.
Your idea, from nothing
Bring a sketch, a photograph, a feeling. Carol designs, carves the wax or fabricates by hand, and makes it once — for you.
Your choice of stones
Precious and semi-precious gemstones from around the world, through some of the most respected diamond cutters and gem designers we know.
An heirloom, matched or remade
Missing the match to an antique? We can duplicate an original by hand, or rework a family piece into something worn every day.
Limited editions, personalised
Any design in our collections can be adapted — metal, stones, size, engraving, a detail that is only yours.
On price
“If we are going to do it, then we are going to do it right.”
We charge a fair and reasonable amount for the quality of the work. Ultimately it is you who sets the range you wish to invest; a reasonable budget for reasonable expectations is a good place to begin.
Many things shape a price: scheduling, the availability and cost of the stones, the metal, one tone or two, hand fabrication or carving, and the time it takes to design, construct and finish. Shipping, special packaging and even the method of payment carry a cost.
Because you buy directly from the workshop, with no retail markup, there is no reason to compromise on quality. A fine retailer's markup is commonly 100 to 200 percent; ours is not part of the price.
