Looked after, for life
Delivery & insurance
Every piece is made to order, so timing is agreed with you personally when we confirm your quotation. If you have a date — a pinning, a wedding, an anniversary — tell us at the start.
Finished pieces are shipped fully insured, with a signature required on delivery, and arrive in our presentation box.
Ring sizing
Because each ring is made for you, we make it to your exact size — including half sizes — rather than resizing a stock ring.
The most reliable measurement comes from a jeweler's ring sizer, at the end of the day when fingers are largest. Wide bands, such as most of our men's and service rings, fit more snugly than narrow ones; tell us the width of the ring you were measured with and we will allow for it. If you are buying as a surprise, borrow a ring the wearer already wears on the same finger and we will measure it for you.
Not sure? Choose “I will confirm my size later” — we will not begin until it is settled.
Caring for your piece
Hand-made jewelry is built to be worn every day. To keep it at its best, store pieces separately so harder stones cannot scratch softer metals, remove rings for heavy work and in chlorinated pools, and clean with warm water, a drop of mild soap and a soft brush.
Satin and textured finishes soften naturally with wear; polished surfaces gain a patina. Either can be refreshed in the workshop — please ask.
On pricing
We charge a fair and reasonable amount for the quality of the work. Ultimately it is you who sets the range you wish to invest; a reasonable budget for reasonable expectations is a good place to begin.
Many things shape a price: scheduling, the availability and cost of the stones, the metal, one tone or two, hand fabrication or carving, and the time it takes to design, construct and finish. Shipping, special packaging and even the method of payment carry a cost.
Because you buy directly from the workshop, with no retail markup, there is no reason to compromise on quality. A fine retailer's markup is commonly 100 to 200 percent; ours is not part of the price.
We distinguish price from cost. Price is what is exchanged; cost is the difference between what you paid and what the piece is worth. When the piece is worth what you paid, owning it costs nothing beyond the transfer of funds, and you hold something of equal value that is far more pleasing to the eye. Our aim in pricing is simply that: to make a piece worth what you pay.
Payment
Personal check, bank wire transfer and PayPal accepted; the in-house financing page also lists cash.
No charge for personal checks or bank wire transfers; personal checks require clearing time.
PayPal processing fees and shipping are charged at actual cost.
Credit card transactions carry a 2.5% charge.
Installments: payment can be split into three or more equal monthly installments, with the piece shipped when the balance is paid.
For custom work, a down payment is made and material costs are paid in advance before work proceeds (Rochelle commission page).
Source note: payment terms come from the military sub-site (ahernbruckermilitary/faq.htm, Ordering.htm, Financing.htm) and upload/rochelle4.htm; the main brand pages do not state them.
