The piece

US Navy CPO ring number 005, in 18k with diamonds, rubies and sapphires. Its making was photographed at every stage: the cast band, the milled 18k sheet cut and fitted as letter caps, the emblem soldered to the band, hand stone setting by Carol and the final polish.

The ring, emblem and letters were recast during the work before it was finished.
